vigour&dash are a handcrafted millinery, headpiece and quirky accessories company inspired by the dashing outdoor pursuits of the 19th century.
vigour&dash is the name of this emporium of delights, which is an imaginarium of the fictitious personages of intrepid adventurer (and naturalist) Vesper Merriweather and his lady companion, ethnologist Catarina Lovelace. Legend has it that the two met on an antipodean voyage commissioned by the Royal Geographical Society and through many misadventures and near-escapes, were the only survivors of the ill-fated trip.
Using their considerable skills and senses to stay alive, they lived off berries and traded with the local savages for quite some time, travelling from island to island in that far distant land, recording their adventures along the way, and have even been reported to have discovered an ancient portal into a time tunnel and travelled extensively throughout different era's! (although the validity of these claims remains dubious)
After many years had passed and all search parties long called off, they appeared on the south coast of Devon quite altered in character and with many chests filled with entomological specimens, illustrations and curious relics from their journey (some of which have made their way to this very shop!). Although they integrated back into society well enough and continued to attend social functions in London as well as regularly travelling abroad, Merriweather and Lovelaces' 'missing' years were the subject of much talk and they were considered oddities for the rest of their days.

Inspired by 19th century exploration, scientific, botanical discovery and outdoor pursuits, vigour&dash recaptures the intrepid adventure, curiosity and romance of the era with dashing millinery and vintage-inspired fashion accessories such as terrarium necklaces, miniature Time Capsules filled with whimsical treasures: entomological specimens, ancient maps or captains' log entries, Lost & Found jewelery containing sweet little items such as bird egg fragments, bird nests, unusual mosses, echidna quills and wild grass seeds! You will also find brass shadow boxes containing botanical illustrations as well as medicines and relics from the ancient civilisation of Ben-Yagyu.
So, go ahead and open the mysterious chest and peer inside to find treasures curious and exotic just for you!!
